What I do

A graphic and type designer whose practice utilizes typography and behavior to build transformative visual identities. An active voice in emerging technologies like AI, his work investigates their role in the design process and culture. His output spans the digital to the material: brand identities & systems, websites & apps, print & editorial, motion & interaction, signage & environmental, and custom typefaces.

The tension between digital and material is an exciting space to him—how things are informed by physical matter (ink, paper, wood, etc), and vice versa, how physical environments are affected by the digital progression (AR, AI, etc).

He leverages his own cultural journey to uncover the essence of others' identities. His pursuit of contextual tensions and fluency in design history allows him to create work that crosses boundaries, strategically putting brands in conversation with culture.

Who I am

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, I was raised near Lucca, Italy. When I was 16 my family relocated to the United States. I lived in Miami and later moved to NYC to pursue a Philosophy degree at New York University (B.A., 2012).

In 2013, I moved back to Italy (Milan) to pursue a double Master’s in Visual and Web design from the Scuola Politecnica di Design (SPD). After graduating, I worked for Italy’s largest financial newspaper, Il Sole 24 Ore, on several projects both print and digital.

In December 2014, I moved back to what has now become my home: Brooklyn. Prior to joining Pentagram in 2015, I worked with organizations like IL Magazine, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the World Bank, faculty at Harvard Medical School, as well as branding a film festival in NY, called As iFF.

I joined Luke Hayman’s team at Pentagram in 2015 as a designer and in early 2018 became an Associate Partner. In 2018 our work for The National was nominated for a GRAMMY (Best Album Package).

In February of 2019, I had the honor to open and head the first New York office for DesignStudio as a Creative Director, alongside the Principal, James Hurst.

In February of 2020, I moved to Gretel as a Creative Director, where I currently practice design alongside a massively talented group of people.

In 2023 I joined Pentagram as a Partner.
